A British tradition I have always admired is Boxing Day. The day after the Christmas, also known as Second Christmas.
Again this year people who have been so very generous to me and my family. Hopefully this does not sound ungrateful - I've already received a half dozen gifts, some that I have exchanged for something i found to be more useful.
At my post holiday gathering we will include a" re-gift exchange"! Anyone attending is invited to bring along less desirable gifts in an attempt to swap them at the party. Any unwanted remnants will then be donated to charity.
I feel this is a good way to be authentic about my wishes for 2009 - to live a more streamlined and clutter free life, unencumbered by things that i do not love dearly that others can make better use of - regardless of cost or condition of the item. I believe that letting go leaves room for more and i am looking forward to a bountiful 2009, full of all the good things i am wishing for (not only for myself but for others).
